In a recent interview Michael Pachter suggested that PS5 will be backwards compatible with PS4 Pro

Michael Pachter is an analyst who divides opinion. Though often criticized for stating the obvious , some of Pachter’s predictions do actually hold some weight. he has had a mixed bag of records and despite this he remains one of the most famous analyst associated with the industry.

Speaking with Gaming Bolt Pachter recently gave an insight into PS5 ,

“I think the PS5 will be another half step. So he is being honest when he said he is not doing a half step but the PlayStation 5…how much faster can it be? It will surely support 4K. Will it support 240 frames per second? Great. Will it play games that were made for the PlayStation 4 PRO? That’s the question. I think it will. So I think they will build a console that will be backwards compatible with the PS4 Pro. So I think it will be perceived by the consumers to be a half step and I think Shawn is telling the truth when he says it’s will be a full fledged console”

He also believes that the console will come out in probably 2019 , due to the fact that 4K technology will be readily accessible by then and Sony will time it according to accessibility of 4K devices around the world.

Sony has always been one step ahead of Microsoft when it comes to software , with a backwards compatible PS5 though that could all change and they could be on par with the hardware as well. This generation of consoles mid-cycle upgrades have meant a shorter life span for consoles, and this has changed the game entirely. With the Xbox One X Microsoft has perhaps unveiled a beast of a console, but a even more powerful PS5 would make the console wars even more interesting.
