God Of War Dev Andy Kaufman recently sat down with the Official PlayStation Magazine UK to discuss specifics regarding the game which included the combat dynamics between Kratos and his son Atreus.
In the interview he went on to describe one of the combat sequences in God Of War which will see Kratos and Atreus mesh together.
“There’s a really cool move where he [Atreus] jumps on the back enemy’s back and you hit the Square button, which is for the son, and he’ll jump above the enemy’s back and start firing arrows, and then you can throw your axe. And that’s just one example of the dynamism between him [Kratos] and Atreus.”
He also went on to say that God Of War is indeed going to be a full fledged sequel and is based in the same universe as the previous games. This means that the game will contain a ton of references and back stories which pertain to the Greek mythology, and will give a chance for a better story progression which may likely result in a new trilogy of God Of War games.
God Of War will take place in the Norse Mythology this time around, and one of the more interesting questions surrounding the game is the identity of Atreus’s mother which is still being kept as a well guarded secret. I believe it is more than likely to be someone from Kratos’s past and someone who many of us wouldn’t even consider as Atreus’s mother.
God Of War is scheduled to come out in early 2018 and is undoubtedly going to be one of the most anticipated titles of the year. As of yet though there is no official release date from the folks at Santa Monica Studios.
