In the last couple of years Fox has tried to develop it’s own super hero cinematic universe and after the fiasco that was Fantastic Four finally seems to be recovering from it’s initial failures. The studio is coming up with many new films and characters which will make it a solid competitor in the overall movie universe. We feel that Fox has finally found a formula that could be crucial to its success.
They say that failure is the best teacher. We think that this phrase clearly is applicable on 20th Century Fox. The franchise has released numerous movies which have tasted failure. Fantastic Four, X-Men Last stand are all examples of failed movies. We feel that the path or approach was flawed. It tried to capture what Disney was already offering and was not going anywhere. Humor and the fun element have been components of Disney films and is their USP so playing against them in that field may not be a good option.
20th Century Fox through Deadpool finally found a USP. It found out that there was a market for R rated super hero films. After Deadpool’s success the company is also coming up with sequels and new characters including Venom to the big screen.
Another thing that Sony is willing to experiment is with the New Mutants film. Sony is taking a different approach or a line extension to the X-Men series. This latest film would be a horror film and would be quite different from its regular films. Recently a tweet came on Twitter in which one of the characters was revealed with the caption “ Some things can’t be caged.” This new character is expected to be Wolfsbane and may be the villain of the movie.
