While most of us have been praising the way Far Cry 5 looks so far , and how it is a departure from other previous installments in the series where the protagonists was usually stuck in a backwards habitat of sorts , there are some who are actually offended by the idea of the depiction of a backwards county right in the hearts of America , in the fictional town of Hope County Montana.
Here are some excerpts from the petition which many believe is actually a piss-take on the ongoing debate about Far Cry 5’s depiction of Caucasian Americans.
“Enough is enough UbiSoft. We’ve sat through your multicultural lectures and your preachy games aimed at degenerates and miscegenators. We’ve tolerated it in the name of gameplay design and innovation. But no more! Far Cry 5 is an insult to your fanbase, the Americans who make up the majority of your customers, and it’s time you woke up to that fact. Change this, or cancel it.”
“It’s time to draw a line in the sand. We, the American gamers that make up the majority of your userbase, demand to you cancel this game, or alter it to be less offensive to your main player base. In these times, you must understand that there might be some violent repurcussions if you intend to follow through with your pointless criticism.”
The petition to cancel Far Cry 5 seems to be satire however if the individual actually means these things then it is borderline bizarre and just uncalled for . The petition demands for Ubisoft to change or alter the villains ,alter the plot and change the setting. So basically what the petition wants is to scrap the entire game or make wholesale changes to it , to cater to a certain demographic. I mean how crazy can you actually get.
Far Cry in the past has depicted Africans , Pacific Islanders , and people of Sub-Continent origins in negative roles as well, however if there was no problem back then , there should theoretically be no problem in depicting a Caucasian in a FICTIONAL negative role.
This just goes to show that we are now living in a world of crazy and at times like these its important to remember that this is only a fictionalized account , and it should not be taken literally or be deemed offensive to any particular culture or race
Far Cry 5 will hit PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on February 27 2018
