If you’re a die hard Walking Dead fan and aren’t up for spoilers, then you shouldn’t be reading. Recent developments have led to unexpected turn of events. A major character death is on the cards and fans are as excited as ever.
Carl (Chandler Riggs) is now victim of a zombie (Walker Bite) and there is no option other than death to take him out of the show. The bite is on the stomach and there’s little Carl can do now to set things right. Riggs despite being young was one of the veterans of the show joining way back in 2010. After 8 years of his work in the show, he is now finally taking a break.
The unanticipated news came yesterday when Riggs himself revealed the development in an interview to the Hollywood Reporter. Carl regarding the issue said that “Yes, Carl is going to die.” He added that “There’s no way he can get back from that. His story is definitely coming to an end.”
The news has not only come as a surprise to the fans but also to Carl as well who wasn’t expecting an exit any time soon. In the comic books, Carl is one of the most important characters and perhaps second only to Rick. But the directors decided to sway away from the storyline.
Chandler Riggs in the interview also revealed that he was planning to go to college. Perhaps the show directors felt that it would be a tough job to carry out two activities all at once and hence found the need of eliminating the character altogether. He also felt that the movie was good for the story line as the audience would try to see new and different characters adding diversity and creativity to the overall show.
