2K is one of the biggest publishers in the world of video games.It is also owned by Take-Two the parent company of renowned developers Rockstar Games.
In a recent earnings call they talked about a new entry will be released for a renowned franchise in the fiscal year of 2019. Since Take-Two has a number of different blockbuster franchises under their belt ranging from the likes of Red Dead Redemption, GTA and Bioshock amongst others it’s not exactly clear which franchise is being touted here.
“We now expect fiscal 2018 to be another year of Net Bookings growth, as well as strong cash flow. Looking ahead, we expect fiscal 2019 to be a record year for Net Bookings and net cash provided by operating activities led by the upcoming launches of Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 and a highly anticipated new title from one of 2K’s biggest franchises. We have a robust development pipeline and are better positioned than ever for long-term growth and margin expansion.”
While we do believe that a new GTA title will be forthcoming in the near future, the fact that it says a 2K title leads me to believe that it is possibly going to be a new Bioshock game , or Bioshock 3.
Bioshock: Infinite was released back in 2013 , and come next year it will be 5 years since the game’s release and hence it will be the perfect time to release one of the most revered franchises in the last decade or so.
Whether 2K does bring out a new Bioshock game remains to be seen , but it seems that the Take-Two is going to have a brilliant 2018 backed by the sales of Red Dead Redemption 2 which is already being shortlisted by many for the Game Of The Year Award.
