Shadow Of War DLC That Was To Honor Late Dev Is Now Free

Warner Bros received quite the criticism for making the Shadow of War DLC Forthog Orc-Slayer paid, a majority of the cash from which would have gone to the family of Michael Forgey, and the decision has been reversed now making the DLC free for all again. The DLC would’ve been for $4.99, out of which, $3.50 was going to the family of the late developer.

Warner Bros released a statement regarding the Shadow Of War DLC saying that legal complications and public confusion surrounding the DLC are the reasons why it is being made free of any charges. Anyone that has already purchased the DLC will be refunded and the DLC has been withdrawn from sale.

“We now recognize that tying our donation to sales of the DLC was not the best way to achieve our goal of offering financial support to the family and creating a lasting memorial to Michael Forgey. We sincerely apologize to the fans and to the Forgey family for the confusion we created.”

To ensure the two original aims are still met and to provide transparency to the community, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will instead make a donation directly to the Forgey family. The DLC will be withdrawn from sale and will be a free download for owners of Middle-earth: Shadow of War. Anyone who has purchased the DLC will receive a full refund.”

There’s also a rumor making rounds on the internet saying that the DLC Orcs might possibly be a one-time use only thing. The DLC Orcs will not be available to players who start a second playthrough regardless of purchase of the DLC.

Shadow of War is coming to the PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 10, 2017 and it is being developed by Monolith Productions. Be sure to stay tuned for everything on this and let us know if you’re excited about Shadow of War in the comments section below.
