Update: Rockstar continues teasing gamers with cryptic messages on their social media accounts , however it does seem likely that this will indeed be a Red Dead Sequel. here is their latest post:

Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption was a stellar hit which saw a whole new generation become a fan of the open world western game, and fans have been for a long time asking for a sequel and now it appears that the wait is finally over as Rockstar seems to have confirmed rather subtly that the sequel is indeed happening.
For now though that is the only bit of confirmation that has arrived and it has driven social media to a frenzy. As always we will keep you updated on the latest developments.
