As of now the only thing that we really know regarding the release date of Red Dead Redemption 2 is that the game is expected to come out in Fall 2017.
There have been several previous rumors for a potential release date and now it seems as if we have another one on our hands.
Apparently a Polish retailer MediaMarkt has ended up leaking the release date for Red Dead Redemption 2 through a listing on their website. According to the listing the release date for the game is October 3rd, 2017.
MediaMarkt were then sent an email to discuss the apparent launch date and the retailer said that the date was given to them by the game’s distributor.
The reply from MediaMarkt was posted on by a user called Adakam8323. Below you can see the translation. (via Gamesradar):
I would like to inform you that our marketing department was informed by the distributor of the game that its airing date is 3rd of October 2017
As expected the email ended up going viral which prompted MediaMarkt to swiftly remove the launch date and cover it up by labeling it as an error on their part.
We can’t really tell whether the entire incident was actually an honest mistake or a cover up. I guess we’ll have to wait to find out.
Till then here are a few rumors from around the Internet to keep you hyped.
- The game could be a prequel to the original Red Dead Redemption.
- Actor Matt Bradford from The Last Ride could have a role in the game.
- The game may just include three protagonists, similar to GTA V.
- It certainly won’t be coming to the Nintendo Switch.
