As Sony and Microsoft battle it out in the console wars for supremacy , each month a number of free titles are made available for the pleasure of their fans. Here are the ones for the month of February.
PlayStation Plus Free Games for February 2017
LittleBigPlanet 3 (PS4)
Not a Hero (PS4)
Starwhal (PS3, PS4)
Anna — Extended Edition (PS3)
Ninja Senki DX (PS Vita, PS4)
TorqueL (PS Vita, PS4) –
Xbox Live Games with Gold for Febuary 2017
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime (Xbox One)
Project Cars (Xbox One)
Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck’s Revenge (Xbox 360, Xbox One)
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (Xbox 360, Xbox One)
This is definitely an interesting and perhaps controversial head to head. While there is a large selection of some fairly good PS Plus games, there is a serious lack of heavy hitters or show stealers that someone would play long term. As for Xbox Live Games with Gold you can find a few excellent games but the problem is most of them are older games while you also don’t have too many options as there’s a smaller batch of games, not including current gen console games of course which stand at four each.
There may not be any clear winner and it seems to come down to personal choice in the end. The PlayStation Plus can take the win with it’s wider selection including the likes of Starwhal which is a great multiplayer experience and LittleBigPlanet which despite its many shortcomings is still a very enjoyable game. But when you take a look at the review scores here Games With Gold wins easily, of course there is the drawback that these games are older titles, so they won’t exactly fit the bill for those looking for a more modern experiences.
