Remember Anthem? Biowares new IP revealed at E3? Yeah, so do we. Easily one of the high points of E3 this year, the games trailer looked stunning and left us craving more. But for those of you wondering whether Anthems going to be a one hit wonder, EA VP Patrick Soderlund nas confirmed that Anthem is here to stay for the next 10 years, which means the game will spawn atleast a couple of sequels.
Soderlund stated ” I think it’ll be the start of a ten-year journey for us.” This is certainly good news, but this may be a little early to plan sequels for a game that won’t be released till next year atleast “
The announcement sounds a lot like Activision’s 10 year plan for Destiny when it was first announced, which has spawned many comparisons from people. When Destiny’s 10 year plan was first announced, players thought Bungie would support the original Destiny for the next 10 years. This could have been possible on PC through major infrastructure changes, a steady stream of patches as well as visual upgrades (similar to those in MMOs). But pulling it off on console would be very difficult, to say the least. And sure enough, we soon found out that the ’10 year plan’ was a partnership consisting of about 4 games.
Anthem kind of has the same deal, so we’ll probably get more Anthem games in the next 10 years. Right now it seems like EA and Bioware are putting the cart before the horse, but considering Anthems amazing trailer, if the game turns out to be a gem then we’ll be very thankful for the whole ’10 year journey’.
Anthem is EA and Bioware upcoming IP, and is set to launch in 2018 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. Let us know your expectations from the game by commenting in the comments section below.
