BioWare’s Anthem has finally gotten an update after no news of the game at all at Gamescom this year. The game is set to have a beta before the official release as an incentive to confirm that this will not be another Mass Effect: Andromeda.
This was confirmed via twitter when someone asked Jonathan Warner, the director of the game, whether if Anthem will have a beta to which Jonathan replied that it will indeed have one prior to release. He also mentioned the lack of a beta for Mass Effect: Andromeda and stated that this will not be the case with Anthem.
The need for a beta for the game is very high since Mass Effect: Andromeda (no beta) was filled with bugs and glitches (the infamous modelling issues that the game was plagued with) so EA and BioWare are keen on making sure that they don’t make the same mistake twice.
Probably the most important reason that Mass Effect: Andromeda was such a development failure might be that it was in the shadows of Anthem and the next Dragon Age while in development. The focus might’ve been on those two games which would make Andromeda a work for the B-teams present at BioWare. With the best teams working on different projects, it isn’t a mystery why Andromeda lacked in so many areas.
BioWare and EA have kept the news on Anthem on a halt for some time now so there is no actual news available about the game (or the beta) at all! We don’t know yet whether it will be an open beta or closed or how much content will be pushed in it. We obviously don’t have dates for it so we will have to wait to see or hear more about it.
Anthem comes out sometime next year in 2018 so be sure to keep checking back for more news!
