Wonder Woman is finally making its presence felt and has given a strong statement in favor of the DCEU universe. After the first two major films of DCEU “Man of Steel” and Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice failed to go well with the fans, Wonder Woman has clearly been a revelation. The movie has broken yet again another record. As reported by the Variety Wonder Woman on Friday has become the highest grossing live action film ever directed by a female.
DC’s latest installment has crossed the previous record held by Mamma Mia, the abba musical. The movie stood at top of the box office with an astounding $609.8 million. Some of the other records that the movie has managed to stir away is the record for the highest domestic opening weekend of $103.1 million in the US by a female director.
Wonder Woman has broken Warner Bros streak of getting negative reviews. Rotten Tomatoes for instance has given it a 92% rating. The critics at Rotten Tomatoes were clearly impressed with how Gal Gadot managed to pull off the role of Wonder Women and also commended director Patty Jenkins of delivering a movie that will inspire future generations of women to come.
While the movie has done well at the box office, its director Jenkins would certainly be hoping in topping some of the other records. The most immediate record that Jenkins would be setting her eyes onto is Kung Fu Panda 2’s staggering $665.7 million record in the global box office. Wonder Women so far is the third highest grossing film of 2017 reeling behind Beauty and the Beast and the Guardians of the Galaxy .
Patty Jenkins till now hasn’t signed any contract with Warner Bros for a sequel. But with the massive success of her film she just might manage to win a contract.
