Its no secret that much of Sony’s success can be attributed to the PS4 and the amazing exclusives that the console has to offer. The console has pretty much blown all other competition out of the water with some amazing offerings on display. With God Of War, The Last Of Us 2 and Days Gone still to come it seems like Sony and the PS4 are all set to retain their lead at the top of the summit for the foreseeable future.
However that wasn’t always the case, as in a recent interview with IGN, VP of Sony’s Japan Studio Allan Becker believes that they fell behind the competition in terms of tech , and then it took the PS4 to finally bring the Sony ship back on track. Here is what he had to say:
“At Japan Studio I think we have a lot of talented people, but for whatever reason I think we fell behind in terms of technology, and that started way back in the PS2 days and PS3. Japan Studio wasn’t producing that many titles. And so with PS4, we’re really starting to build the technology back up.”
He also stated that the Studio would be working on new titles in the near future since the Last Guardian and Gravity Rush 2 have all but reached their conclusions for now. With Knack 2 also headed our way in the near future the Studio will undoubtedly start work on another title. Here is what he had to say
“We’re going to finish up Knack 2 as well, so, as for the internal team, they’re much more freed up, so we are thinking about starting up several new titles.”
