The best-selling hardware and software charts by NPD Group for North America for the month of May have been revealed and PS4 and Injustice 2 are the winners this time. From May 2016, Nintendo Switch has increased hardware spending by 7% although there still are shortages in the supply. But, summing the total sales of PS4 and Xbox One has put them ahead of PS3 and Xbox 360 by 29%.
The general software chart starts with Injustice 2. Considering its high sales which are more than the total of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s sales as well as they were sufficient to be on the top of separate charts for PS4 and Xbox One. New entries in the NPD list of software bestsellers comprise of Prey at #5 and Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadow of Valentina at #7. Farpoint is an exclusive game for PSVR which has made an appearance in the top 20 at #16. Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers and Disgaea 5 Complete also entered the Nintendo Switch list at #3 and #4.
Other titles have remained stagnant in their top 20 positions since April but not Persona 5 which has completely disappeared from the top 20 although it was at #2 in April. Also, Nier: Automata is a Japanese breakout hit of the year for PS4 since it has climbed up a spot this month making it #18 on the general list and #10 on the PS4 list.
The bestselling videogame for the year continues to be Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands with Injustice 2 makes an entrance as #9 in the top 10 list. Check out the lists below:
