A Reddit poster claims that a gamer was able to race with the drivatar of his late friend who passed away in 2015, in the recently released Forza Horizon 3.
“So I am just cruising the Coast when I see a XBL name i haven’t seen in a while. It was my buddy Drew. Sadly Drew passed away about a year ago. He was only 19 years old. Anyways i see his driveatar, I Immediately pull up behind him and challenge him to a race. It was pretty surreal it was like i was playing with him again on xbox. It was bittersweet, but just another reason to love this game. Thank you for bringing me that moment with him.” Said his post on .
Drivatar are AI based ghosts of gamers that mimic their racing style and history, when they are not online. This means that any gamer can play against their friends even when the said friend is offline. This feature was first introduced with Forza Motorsport 5 in the year 2013.
Since Spartansneverdie’s Reddit post, many people have commented that it is similar to the one posted by an anonymous YouTube commenter , who claimed he was able race against his late father who passed away ten years ago. The story was then later dramatized into a short film called player two which won critical acclaim.
