Cyberpunk 2077 Has The Potential To Be A Bigger Commercial Success Than The Witcher 3, Says CD Projekt Red Co-Founder

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 will be the latest offering by renowned Polish developer, CD Projekt RED; whose claim to fame is the RPG masterpiece The Witcher 3 : Wildhunt. The developers have a lot of  expectations associated with the release of Cyberpunk 2077, and one of its co-founders, Michał Kicińsk, believes they can meet and even exceed expectations.

In an interview with Polish website Gazeta he talked about how he thinks that Cyberpunk 2077 can be a bigger success than the Witcher 3

I am convinced that “Cyberpunk 2077″ may be a much greater commercial success than”The Witcher 3”. The Futuristic world of “Cyberpunk” is closer to what we know from everyday life. It is also increasingly popular as evidenced of the phenomenon’s presence in a number of films, books, comics and games. You have to remember that fantasy, is a niche topic.

Michał Kicińsk believes that Cyberpunk 2077 has the potential to be bigger and better than The Witcher 3 because although the source material was great , the entity in the start was only popular in Central-European regions, It had to built as a brand across the world and that obviously took time. While in Contrast Cyberpunk will be able to appeal to a wider audience.

I believe that in the case of “Cyberpunk” CD Projekt will be able to fight not only for the prestigious prizes and awards, but also for great commercial success. The combination of these two elements in the gaming industry is difficult but entirely possible, as the example of Rockstar today, and Blizzard before them.

The Witcher 3 pretty much racked up every other accolade that is associated with gaming , so if somehow Cyberpunk manages to top that it will indeed be a phenomenal achievement by the folks at CD Projekt RED.

Let us know what are your hopes and expectations from CD Projekt Red by commenting in the comments section below.

      • Massamo

        2077 lol

    • Human 2.0

I am not as concerned with that as I just want more CP picks.

The combat system ruined The Witcher 3 for me. It was all eye candy. Fighting the enemies was all trickery. Each individual enemy had a method to defeat, and if you had the muscle memory you could kill them easily. I’d much prefer a straight-on approach for combat, like Skyrim. Hopefully Cyberpunk 2077 won’t involve melee and magic only with a Witcher-style combat system.

I like how you complain about The Witcher 3’s combat and then you use Skyrim as a point for a good combat mechanic, a game notorious for incredibly shallow combat.

      • Sonny Bono

If you think Skyrim’s combat sucks, you’re obviously playing it in easy mode. What’s the point? You may as well not even have any enemies.

        • Squiggy

Thinks for not proving any of my points as false. Even at higher difficulties, its essentially pound the guy with your sword and wait for some damn animation to finish the job, or spam spells or use poorly-implemented stealth.

          • Sonny Bono

Not really. That’s how you’re playing it. Glad you’ve figured out how to enjoy yourself.

As much as I love Skyrim, it’s combat was much, much, muccch worse than TW3. I like TW3 combat; the only way to play is on DM difficulty though, the rest are donkey balls.

  • Human 2.0

I hope for new concept art.

“You have to remember that fantasy, is a niche topic.”

As a HUGE cyberpunk/dystopian future sci-fi fan, I have to say this is a very stupid statement to make.

Still, I hope the game is good.
