Jason Momoa will star as Eric Draven ,a musician who returns from the dead seeking vengeance in the long-in-the-works project. Alex Proyas’ 1994 original is a cult classic which also serves as a memorial for its late star, Brandon Lee, who was tragically killed during production when a gun used in a scene fired a defective blank. Conspiracy theorists have had their tinfoil hats out ever since the incident, also in part due to the controversy that clouds the death his father, martial-arts legend Bruce Lee.
Production on The Crow reboot is set to begin in January, with Game of Thrones alumni and future Aquaman leading the lines. Momoa had been previously rumored for the role but all-but-confirmed his casting with a post on Instagram alongside director Corin Hardy with the hashtags “sealthedeal” and “dreamjob.”
The film was previously going to begin production in 2015, but was suspended after production company Relativity Media filed for bankruptcy. In Comparison to the original adaptation from 1994 the reboot is expected to be a lot more closer to James O’Barr’s graphic novel.
Boardwalk Empire’s Jack Huston was originally set to star, but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Bradley Cooper and Luke Evans have also been previously linked to the role.
Momoa will also be seen as Aquaman in 2017’s Justice League followed by an Aquaman solo film directed by James Wan which is slated for a 2018 release. He is also expected to make an appearance on season 7 of HBO’s Game of Thrones reprising his role as Khal Drogo, As Drogo was killed off back in season 1, it may be as some sort of a flashback.
What do you think of this casting? Is he the perfect choice or would you have preferred someone else? Please let us know in the comments.
