Now that 2016 is officially behind us since almost a few days, it is time for GfK to publish the number of sales that may be interesting and perhaps shocking as well, to read.

The revelation by GfK is that around £23.7 million boxed games had been sold throughout the previous year in UK which generated a combined revenue of £776 million. Comparing this data with 2015 shows a drop of 13.4% and 13.8% in units and value.

There is a proper explanation behind these drops considering that even the biggest franchises had dropped from their accomplishment in the last year. One of the biggest example is Call of Duty: Inifinite Warfare; it became 2nd best selling title of the year but was a whole 31.5% behind CoD: Black Ops 3.
