So I wanted to play the game in it’s entirety before I actually wrote a review about it and I am glad that I took out the time to actually play the entire game to form a consensus.
Wolfenstein II The New Colossus does a lot of things right and feels like a true sequel to it’s predecessor. You can actually feel the story continuing right from where it was left off and yet at the same time new players can also understand the depth and the direction the story is taking and actually enjoy the game.
In this politically correct world, it’s more than just killing Nazi’s and leaving their entrails on the floor. Sure it is fun, sure it’s gory but Wolfenstein II The New Colossus succeeds in the way the story is told.
The game puts you in the role of B.J Blazkowicz and starts of after the events of the New Order. The Axis has won the second World War and the Nazi regime reigns supreme. In these circumstances B.J has been portrayed as the archetypical protagonist whose cool, calm and collective in the most daunting of situations. The best part about the game though is the combat , something which the publisher Bethesda is known for , whether it’s Doom or Wolfenstein II The New Colossus the combat is amazing and fast paced , and will give you a rush of adrenaline every 5 seconds.
There are a ton of weapons to choose from and you can also dual wield weapons for some interesting combinations . You also have the ability to upgrade each weapon with kits, however you must choose wisely as they are available in limited quantity.
Now without spoiling too much the game also rewards upon some choices made during the game like a certain weapon you gain by choosing to save one out of two comrades making your choices in the game valuable.
The run and gun, and the ability to take cover are also important part of combat and Wolfenstein II The New Colossus manages to do that superbly. The game also has a plethora of enemies ranging from robotic beasts to physically augmented soldiers , and the visuals of Manhattan are beyond mesmerizing
Now the reason I always returned to the game isn’t the fact that to fulfill my desire to kill Evil Nazi’s (It definitely is!) it’s the story with its unexpected twists and turns, The strong character(s) development and their cause to fight for the revolution feels so much compelling making the game feel gratifying.
Wolfenstein II The New Colossus is one of the best shooters of 2017, and you cant go wrong with the game. Its a solid 8/10 from me.
