There Might Be A New Super Smash Bros In The Works; Trademark Registered For New Game

Nintendo have registered a trademark for a brand new Super Smash Bros and it is about time we get a new game! There is, as of yet, no Super Smash Bros for the Nintendo Switch and if this news predicts correct then that might be changing in the near future. The last SSM game was not ported to the Switch up till now.

The last Super Smash Bros game was released during the end-period of the Wii U’s lifetime but there has officially been no word as of yet for a Switch port, Nintendo might be planning an entirely new game for their new console hybrid. Other games that were released around the same time have gotten a port for the Switch such as Pokken Tournament and Mario Kart 8.

A Super Smash Bros for the Switch will definitely add to the list of amazing exclusives that are often called system-sellers for Nintendo. With the likes of Super Mario Odyssye, Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild and Fire Emblem: Warriors, a possible Super Smash Bros game will definitely make a great addition to the Switch’s library.

This wasn’t the only game trademark that they filed (there was Animal Crossing, Legend of Zelda and Platoon too) but it gives hope that the developing team is probably working on a new title. There are instances where companies register trademarks just to keep a certain franchise under their control, this might not be the same here.

There might still be a year or two before we even hear about a new SSM game considering the gap between Super Smash Bros Brawl and the one for the Wii U but one can still be hopeful. A SSM game for the Switch will definitely be a one-of-a-kind experience.
