The Last Of Us Part II

PlayStation Experience 2017 took place this weekend in California and there were a bunch of different announcements and reveals, one of these was a most exciting panel that consisted some of the cast and makers behind The Last Of Us Part II that is currently in development.

Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, Victoria Grace and Ian Alexander were present at the panel. Neil Druckmann, director and writer for the game, was also there along with writer Halley Gross. Not much was said about the game as everyone was hesitant to share anything, but a few things were confirmed.

The rumor about most of the game taking place in Seattle, Washington has been confirmed by Druckmann . He also shed light on a fan theory going around which suggests that Joel is dead in The Last Of Us Part II. When asked Neil Druckmann gave an interesting yet vague answer.

“There are stakes — there are real stakes. With “The Last of Us,” no one is safe. We want people to go into “The Last of Us: Part II,” especially with this theme [of hate] and what we’re trying to say with this game, is knowing that no one is safe — not even these two [Joel and Ellie].”

Druckmann also went on to say that this time around they were taking bold risks both creatively and in terms of gameplay  , but he did not however went into the specifics of what might be the changes that we see in the sequel.

He also went on to say that the game has been completed around 50-60% , so we may yet see the game in late 2018 or early 2019 at the max.

The Last of Us Part II will feature a bevy of new characters and with Neil Druckmann and Naughty Dog at the helm it is sure to be an interesting and gritty narrative with underlying themes of hate , hope and salvation. No matter when the game comes out it is a shoe-in for a Game Of The Year nomination.
