Now there’s been quite the racket about a potential Shazam movie for quite some time and since the past few week the movie has been confirmed along with its cast and characters. However it wont feature Shazam’s arch nemesis Black Adam with Mark Strong instead portraying the film’s main antagonist Doctor Sivana.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be playing Black Adam , and if reports are to be believed he will be making an appearance in Suicide Squad 2 . It remains to be seen if he is part of the team or the primary antagonist.
Recent reports suggest that, according to The Wrap’s sources the plot of Suicide Squad is set to revolve around “members of Suicide Squad [who are] tasked with tracking down a weapon of mass destruction.” That weapon is apparently Black Adam another affirmation to the fact is when Johnson himself teased about the character when he spoke to Fandango earlier this year. “We have a really cool surprise for Black Adam that I can’t reveal, in terms of where we will see Black Adam being introduced.”
Although Suicide Squad 2 doesn’t have an official release date the movie is scheduled to start filming early 2018.Gavin O’Connor, who previously helmed the Ben Affleck hit The Accountant, will direct.
It was revealed back in 2014 that Johnson would play Shazam Nemesis. It was also revealed that the character would also be included in the Shazam movie before a decision was made to make a standalone movie on the anti-hero with Shazam’s Director David Sandberg adding: “There have been variations of the script, before I came along, where Black Adam was in and out. But now, this is about Shazam.”
It remains to be seen how Shazam fares compared the other more established super hero movies, and if Black Adam indeed appears in Suicide Squad 2.
