Can Dark Phoenix Revolutionize The Super Hero Genre?

We take a look at the potential of the upcoming X-Men Spinoff titled Dark Phoenix and whether it will revolutionize the Super hero industry.

In a world dominated by Disney’s humorous and successful super hero movies, one has to take a unique customer oriented strategy if it is to reap any success. Fox in recent years has done just that and evolved from the conventional super hero genre. Its movies in Logan and Deadpool are reflective of that and the strategy has worked well for the studio.

Now after Disney’s acquisition of Fox, we hope that Disney allows Fox to operate as an autonomous business group with a differentiated strategy from that of Disney. With that being said, Fox has shed some light on one of its new movies in the X-Men franchise i:e X-Men Dark Phoenix.

Sophie Turner the director of the film feels the movie to be so good that it would revolutionize the entire super hero genre. She also thinks the movie will be an emotional ride and commends Simon Kinberg’s ability to define the film. She says that “Simon has been the brain behind X-Men for years, and it’s really exciting to have what feels like one of our own rise up and take hold of the franchise, and direct it in the way that he sees it. I have to say he’s one of the best directors I’ve ever worked with. He’s so passionate and collaborative.” . Considering Fox’s recent endeavors the movie can work on the same wave lengths as Logan. A dark brutal X-Men movie can be made. We, however believe that there are complications to this.

Logan or Wolverine was played by Hugh Jackman. The character has been part of the X-Men films since its inception and fans resonate well with it. The new Jean however is a new character and we find it difficult to believe that Turner would be able to evoke such an emotional response as she claims from a character that is so new.
