TV shows normally tend to have a lower budget compared to movies. But during some instances, despite the large budget movies tend to underperform. Ben Affleck’s Daredevil is one example. The Daredevil movie failed to make a mark on the audience and was a major flop.
It’s not often when TV shows redeem lost loyalty but in Daredevil’s scenario this is exactly what happened. Daredevil’s TV show was Marvel’s entry into the TV show arena. The TV show played a vital role in recuperating the prestige and loyalty lost through the Daredevil movie. The first season of Daredevil is regarded as Marvel’s best Netflix series so far and has provided Marvel with a major competitive edge.
Daredevil set the building blocks of the Marvel TV show universe which now has culminated into the Defenders comprising of Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. In addition to the combined story lines, Marvel is also focusing on individual story lines. Daredevil season 3 is coming up soon and it will bring back Vincent D’ Onofrio as Kingpin.
Kingpin is one of the major reasons attributed to the success of Daredevil’s first season. His return is good news for Marvel and its fans and might play a pivotal role in its success. As reported by Screenrant, Jeph Loeb regarding the issue said that “Vincent is an exceptional actor who returns with the incredible gravitas he brings to Fisk. We’re very excited how Marvel’s Daredevil develops through the creative lens and guidance of our new showrunner, Erik Oleson.”
Kingpin’s re-entry is not the only major news. Erik Oleson has also taken over the helm and would be responsible for running the show. Daredevil after Defenders would be a changed man and Oleson would have a major challenge in depicting the new and changed personality of Daredevil.
Daredevil Season 3 will be interesting to say the very least, lets see how Matt Murdock recovers from his injuries after the events that transpired in the Defenders.
